Over the years of writing, I found myself constantly talking to owners and managers, hearing their vision and assessing tiny details and all those intangibles that add up to how you feel when you stay somewhere. What made one place feel so good, while another was just off, despite the fact it had ticked all the boxes?
Every property I visited threw another log on the burning fire of my desire to get behind the scenes and start contributing to the art of hospitality myself, from the drawing board.
The last 5 years I have consulted and assisted on a multitude of hospitality projects, from public relations and communications to sales representation, concept evolution and staff-training. My experience spans all sides of the process, from travel agencies to press, editor's offices to visionary owners who need a helping hand fine-tuning their dreams. To date I have only launched one of my own full-blown projects, Casa Fat Radish, but I have a feeling it won’t be the last….
I now combine this experience with my passion and understanding of wellness and healing, consulting on wellness for hospitality projects around the world.
THE FULL MONTY
During the 2014 World Cup, I conceived and produced Casa Fat Radish, a pop-up members' club in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with NYC cult restaurant The Fat Radish and my fabulous business partner Andrea Carel at our creative agency Atropik. We took over a spectacular turn-of-the-century mansion in Santa Teresa and invited local artists, designers and charities to collaborate. The experience was designed to show case the best of Brazil for an international audience, combining leading talents across design, art and food in a sophisticated, vibrant hub for creative minds to meet. It was a run-away success, thanks in large part to the incredible staff we pulled together, who fell in love with the project as much as we had and the energy was set. Over the 6 weeks, we hosted charity fundraisers, screening bashes, explosive parties and a 5 course gourmet restaurant. The result? Casa Fat Radish was the talking point of the World Cup, the place to be and be-seen. We also raised over 100,000 reais for charity Gastromotiva.
